Pam Sorg has been a resident of Carroll County since 1978. She began making baskets in 1995 when she took a class in Chadwick at the suggestion of a friend. She quickly fell in love with this craft and started to sell her work at Straddle Creek Natural Foods Coop in downtown Mt. Carroll. She continues to sell her baskets under the name of SunRidgeBaskets at several small gift shops in the area. Pam enjoys the rhythm of weaving as well as experimenting with different color combinations. The handmade baskets are constructed out of reed and cane. She dyes most of the reed and alsomixes the stains for finishing with a combination of cedar stain, linseed oil and mineral spirits. Basketweaving has proven to be a fulfilling pastime.
