On March 21st of this year, the Mount Carroll District Library Board of Trustees held a special board meeting via telephone to address measures to keep library patrons healthy and safe; it was agreed to follow the governor’s Stay-at-home order. The Board virtually met again on May 28th and agreed to a phase-in plan to offer library services to our patrons.
On Monday, June 1st, the library staff will be back at work for limited services. You can check our on-line catalog at www.mountcarrolldistrictlibrary and request books by phone at 815-244-1751 or email. (And please know that we are happy to help you select titles!) We will deliver books to you curbside on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays between 9 and 1:00. (You can schedule the pick-up time when you make your book requests.) Materials can be returned to us in the bookdrop; we will quarantine items for three days before they are checked out again.
If you need to use a computer or the photocopier for essential services, you can call to schedule an appointment to come into the library at the times we are open. You will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. We will disinfect contact areas between patrons.
Our interlibrary loan system is not yet available at this time. If you have any materials from other libraries or from the Mount Carroll library, you can return them in the bookdrop at your convenience.
We appreciate your support as we eagerly begin these steps to reopen. Our patrons are the best, and we’ve missed you!
