Learn about what it meant to “Fly over The Hump” with WWII Army Air Corps

veteran Jim Hartman during a special Memorial Day presentation on Monday, May 28, at 2 pm at the Mount Carroll District Library. The library is honored to feature Jim, one of Mount Carroll’s WWII veterans, as he talks about his experiences flying B-24 Liberator heavy bombers in the China-Burma-India Theater of War, and what it was like to fly over the Himalayas (“The Hump”). Jim’s presentation will also feature photos of bombers from his personal collection taken during the war, as well as maps and diagrams that help to explain where he flew, and why.

History buffs, students, and the general public are encouraged to attend this special District Library presentation, and learn first hand

about WWII flying from someone who was there and saw it all!
