Start: Jun 20 2017 6:30 pm

For over thousands of years, people looked up to the sky at the unfamiliar sight of the sun slowly disappearing during the day. Once again on August 21, 2017, the shadow of the moon will sweep across the United States. The last total solar eclipse for the United States was nearly 40 years ago. The next total eclipse in the United States will be in 2024. In the evening of June 20 at 6:30 p.m.; Dr. Sipiera will be at the Mount Carroll Public Library. Come and learn what you can expect to see, the ideal viewing locations, as well as how to safely observe the solar eclipse. Paul Sipiera is the President and CEO of Planetary Studies Foundation and the author of more than 30 science-related books. Please call Mount Carroll Public Library at (815) 244-1751.
